The modern plastics industry was started after Dr. Leo Bakeland created the world's first entirely synthetic plastic called Bakelite in 1907. Plastics are renowned for their strength and design flexibility, finding unique and innovative applications in sectors ranging from healthcare and medicine, consumer technology, automotive, packaging, aerospace, building and construction and everything in between. 7,000,000,000 tons of plastic has been produced from 1950s. 380,000,000 tons of plastic is produced each year worldwide.

Our Materials

PLALEAVES uses a variety of renewable plant-based or compostable raw materials to manufacture our product range. In its finished products, PLALEAVES is compostable in commercial facilities, where accepted.

PLA(Polylactic Acid)

PLA is a compostable bioplastic derived from corn, cassava, or sugar cane. Glucose is extracted from milled corn. It is then fermented to produce lactic acid, which is processed into a polymer and made into pellets. PLA consists of renewable raw materials and is biodegradable in industrial composting plants.


PHA(Polyhydroxyalkanoate)

Polyhydroxyalkanoates or PHAs are polyesters produced in nature by numerous microorganisms, including through bacterial fermentation of sugars or lipids. More than 150 different monomers can be combined within this family to give materials with extremely different properties. These plastics are biodegradable and are used in the production of bioplastics.

PGA(Polyglycolic Acid)

Polyglycolide or poly(glycolic acid) (PGA), is a biodegradable, thermoplastic polymer and the simplest linear, aliphatic polyester. PGA has proved to be highly biocompatible in most of its applications. PGA’s random hydrolysis led to the combination with other polymers such as PLA to control its degradation rate. In addition to degradation by hydrolysis, PGA also undergoes enzymatic degradation in vivo.

PCL(Polycaprolactone)

PCL name for Polycarbonate is a biodegradable polyester. PCL is degraded by hydrolysis of its ester linkages under physiological conditions (such as in the human body) and has therefore received a great deal of attention for use as an implantable biomaterial. PCL is often mixed with starch to obtain a good biodegradable material at a low price.

PBAT(Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate)

PBAT shows not only good biodegradability due to the aliphatic unit in the molecule chain, but also excellent mechanical property thanks to the aromatic unit in the molecule chain.  These  properties make PBAT a very promising biodegradable material for a wide range of potential applications, especialy for blowing film application.


PBS(Polybutylene Succinate)

PBS is the biodegradable plastic that decomposes into water and carbon dioxide with the microorganism under the soil. PBS has a high heat resistance among the general biodegradability resin, and PBS has high compatibility with a fiber. Using these advantages, it's possible to achieve the performance which can't be shown by itself as the compound with other resin and material.

Starch

Starch is derived from corn grain, Cassava,sugar cane,etc. As one of the most abundant renewable resources, starch is a completely biodegradable polysaccharide that bio synthesized by numerous plants. Corn starch is versatile, easily modified, and finds many uses in industry.


Bamboo Fiber

Bamboo fiber is a cellulosic fiber that is regenerated from bamboo plant. It is a great prospective green fiber. Bamboo fiber is biodegradable in soil by micro organisms and sunlight, is outstanding biodegradable material, having strength comparable to conventional glass fibers.


Bagasse

Bagasse, which is a by-product of the sugarcane industry, made into sugarcane pulp,  It is the fibrous substance that is left behind after the sugar cane juice is harvested. Years before, bagasse was usually disposed of or left to rot. But nowadays, it is used as a renewable resource for the production of paper products and as a fuel for factories.


PPC(Polypropylene carbonate)

Polypropylene carbonate (PPC) is a fully biodegradable and environment-friendly thermoplastic synthesized from carbon dioxide and propylene oxide. It is fully amorphous and has a rather low glass transition temperature of about 40 °C, and thus is rather soft at room temperature. Composites of polypropylene carbonate with cornstarch (PPC/starch) are used as biodegradable plastics.
