Waitrose announced further reductions in disposable plastic bags.

Waitrose's goal is to eliminate single-use plastic bags through store storage and delivery, reducing 40 million single-use plastic bags every year.

Waitrose will remove the 10-pence "daily bag" and replace it with a 50-pence reusable bag. It is said to be twice as strong as the original, made of recycled materials, and fully recyclable.

The company said its research has found that 10 pence bags are increasingly used only once, rather than being reused as expected.

Waitrose's change will take effect on September 27, and deliveries will be allowed again on the same day.

If they wish, customers can still choose to put their shopping items in the provided crates, or the delivery driver will deliver the goods to their door.

There is a supermarket called Waitrose in the UK.  Waitrose joined the famous John Lewis in 1937 and became a subsidiary of the latter. Now it has become a high-end supermarket mainly for middle-class consumers. But as the British "Guardian" and "Daily Telegraph" have evaluated, the reason why Waitrose is a high-end supermarket is not because of the high price, but because it is really worthy of such a price.

It was granted privileges by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles successively to become one of the suppliers of food to the royal family, mainly related to its daily necessities, wine and spirits.

So where are the Waitroses distributed? Waitrose already has more than 300 physical stores in various cities in the UK. Since it is mainly aimed at high-consumption groups, it is mainly located in areas with higher consumption. But the ambitious Waitrose is unwilling to give up the huge non-high consumer group, so there are dozens of Waitrose convenience stores (Little Waitrose) located in other parts of the city.
