According to the market forecast, the global paper cups market is valued at approximately USD 14.32 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of approximately 3.63% from 2022-2027.

One of the major factors driving the growth of the paper cup market is the rising demand for paper cups in the market along with the rising consumption of beverages.

With urbanization, residents' consumption levels are increasing, raising the demand for convenient, time-saving products.

At the same time, ordering takeaway and home delivery of drinks is becoming increasingly popular. Accordingly, there is a high demand for cups that are both long-lasting and attractive. In addition, with the new crown pneumonia pandemic, there are growing concerns about dietary hygiene, which objectively has had a beneficial impact on the paper cup business and has increased the market demand for disposable plates, cups and bowls.

Starting January 2021, China bans single-use and non-biodegradable plastics in restaurants.

The move is designed to encourage people to use environmentally friendly products and lifestyles, and the government is encouraging paper recycling, factors that are creating a promising market for paper cups.

Recently, food packaging brand Huhtamaki Pulao launched its first paper cup recycling pilot project in China. Within six months of the pilot, used paper cups within the relevant park will be collected, sorted into recyclables, and then handed over to professional recycling manufacturers for processing.

The recycled fiber material will be reused to make other non-food contact paper products, thus achieving closed-loop utilization of fiber material.
