Niine Sanitary Napkins, a leading provider of quality and affordable hygiene solutions in India, has launched the country's first PLA-based biodegradable sanitary napkins.

The pads are CIPET certified and over 90% of the pads decompose within 175 days and the rest within a year. The entire package, including the shell and disposable bags, is biodegradable.

The sanitary napkins offer superior performance in terms of absorbency, comfort and leakage resistance, comparable to regular sanitary napkins. In addition, these sanitary napkins are 100% chemical-free and vegan, providing a safe and sustainable alternative. Derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane, PLA is a biodegradable and compostable polymer that exemplifies Niine's commitment to reducing reliance on non-renewable resources. With the prestigious CIPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology) certification, Niine sets a new industry standard, underscoring its dedication to environmental responsibility and innovation. Present at the inauguration were Niine's founder Amar Tulsiyan, Femina Miss India World 2023 - Nandini Gupta, Femina Miss India 2023 - 1st place: Shreya Poonja, Femina Miss India 2023 - 2nd place:

India faces a huge challenge of disposing of about 1.021 billion soiled disposable sanitary napkins every month. These pads are made primarily of plastic and take 500-800 years to fully decompose. Improper disposal methods, including burning them, flushing them down the toilet or leaving them in a bare landfill, not only pose a serious threat to the environment, but also endanger the health of sanitation workers. To address this critical issue, Niine has taken a major step forward by introducing one of the most environmentally friendly sanitary napkins available. These napkins are made from a combination of eco-friendly materials such as wood pulp, bio-based resins and oils, and PLA-based materials. They meet the highest standards of biodegradability and have been certified by reputable bodies such as CIPET and ISO.

Notably, Niine's mats exhibit enhanced compostability, decomposing effectively even in subterranean environments without requiring exposure to specific conditions such as sunlight or air. By providing sustainable solutions, Niine aims to mitigate the adverse effects of traditional sanitary napkin waste and ensure a healthier environment for all.

Commenting on the launch, Amar Tulsiyan, founder of Niine Sanitary Napkins, said, "Five years ago, we were challenged with a key question: 'Can you develop a sustainable solution?' Today, we are proud to give the answer loud and clear. After extensive research, development and certification, we introduced biodegradable sanitary napkins - a leap into the future that embodies evolution for a better tomorrow. Importantly, this milestone aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, which emphasize creating a cleaner environment for all. As pioneers, we pride ourselves on leading the way, advocating for sustainability and empowering individuals to make responsible choices."

Niine also hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion, "Empowering Women and the Planet: How Biodegradable Sanitary Napkins Are a Game Changer," which illuminated the transformative impact of biodegradable sanitary napkins.

Niine is a revolutionary brand in India, offering the country's first biodegradable sanitary napkins with a PLA-based top layer. Made from pure, safe, skin-friendly materials, these napkins offer a soft and cottony feel. Niine offers superior coverage and faster absorption to ensure dryness and leak-proofness. They are free of harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances, making them ideal for sensitive skin. These vegan napkins feature extra-long pads, each with a disposable pouch, so they retain their shape and structure even on high-traffic days.
