In 2023 from the European market, OPPO cell phone color box plastic packaging almost completely removed, to achieve 100% natural degradation of cell phone product packaging, and the use of 45% of recycled fiber material in the color box.

At the four-day MWC World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, which opened on February 27, OPPO released the "OPPO Low Carbon Development White Paper", making the first commitment that OPPO will achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2050.

OPPO Assistant Vice President and President of OPPO Overseas Sales and Service Zhang Zhouchuan released the OPPO Low Carbon Development White Paper on the first day of MWC, and Steven Moore, Head of GSMA Climate Action, delivered a speech on site.

The white paper, powered by Deloitte, comprehensively demonstrates OPPO's future low-carbon development strategy of continuous investment in five areas: low-carbon production, low-carbon products, low-carbon investment, low-carbon digitalization, and participation in setting low-carbon standards.

OPPO promises that in 2024, its own operations will be the first to achieve carbon peaking; in 2050, its own operations will be carbon neutral, and gives a roadmap to carbon reduction targets.

For the carbon neutral target and roadmap, OPPO has its own detailed path to achieve it, promoting the carbon reduction target in the medium and long-term dimensions, specifically OPPO will continue to increase its efforts in five aspects: low-carbon production, low-carbon products, low-carbon investment, intelligent carbon reduction and participation in the formulation of low-carbon standards, and has formulated a low-carbon development path of low-carbon production, low-carbon products, low-carbon investment, low-carbon digitalization and low-carbon standardization.

In the selection of product packaging materials, OPPO follows the international green packaging 3R+1D design principles to make the packaging reduced, recyclable, recyclable and degradable in the packaging design. Starting from the European market in 2023, OPPO cell phone color box plastic packaging is almost completely removed to achieve 100% natural degradation of cell phone product packaging, and 45% recycled fiber materials are used in the color box from recycled waste paper or plants, such as bamboo and sugar cane residues, to reduce the consumption of raw materials through resource reuse.

Moreover, OPPO has established a product recycling system and launched a trade-in business in domestic and international markets to promote the recycling and reuse of old cell phones; in the European Union and other regions, OPPO provides funds to support the operation of the local recycling system and joins the "Green Dot" recycling system for waste packaging and cooperates with professional third-party recycling companies.

For example, in 2022, OPPO's old cell phone recycling business continued to grow, with 1.3 million cell phones recycled in the domestic market and 240 tons of recycled product weight. Through the recycling of materials, the utilization rate of resources is improved, thus reducing the pollution and damage to the environment.
