Ostrom, a leading manufacturer of innovative fiber-based materials, has partnered with adapa, a leading provider of flexible packaging solutions, and Maped, a renowned stationery brand, to launch a breakthrough eraser-wrapped flow packaging solution.
Ostrom's crystal raw paper is the perfect solution for transparent packaging. By partnering with adapa and Maped, the three companies have developed fiber-based window packaging for a popular school supply - erasers. "The collaboration between Ahlstrom, adapa and Maped is an example of our shared commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices."
Ahlstrom product manager Guillaume Lavoue said. "By offering alternatives to transparent paper, we enable companies and consumers to find fiber-based alternatives to traditional plastic or film substrates without sacrificing functionality or aesthetics."
Cristal is made from natural cellulose fibers, but this innovative transparent paper offers the same functionality and durability as traditional plastic packaging. By using renewable and biodegradable materials, Cristal offers an environmentally friendly alternative without compromising quality.
"The entire process from paper production to conversion is 100% made in France." Chloé Romanet, Maped product manager, explains. "When working with regional suppliers that offer sustainable practices, our overall product footprint is reduced through this collaborative value chain."
"At adapa, we work closely with our customers to rethink packaging to implement more sustainable alternatives," said Franck Caresmel, head of adapa's French fresh food sales division. "In the case of Maped, we were able to meet their requirements for clear paper packaging while moving from classic blister packs to flow packs. As a result, we found a fiber-based solution to print and laminate thin BOPP layers locally in France using Ahlstrom's Cristal, while reducing the amount of material used."
"Collaboration and open innovation thinking are critical to our 'Plastics to Purpose' strategy and our mission to 'Purify and Protect with Every Fiber for a Sustainable World'. We have found success through active and open partners like Maped and adapa, who enable innovation throughout the supply chain." Guillaume Lavoue further commented.
