On the occasion of the 53rd World Earth Day, Starbucks China announced that by the end of this year, all Starbucks hot beverage cup lids in mainland China are expected to be upgraded to easily recyclable polypropylene material. Starbucks China has fully implemented a biodegradable "dregs tube" containing post-extraction coffee powder, which is expected to reduce waste by approximately 350 tons a year.

This is the third year that Starbucks China has launched "GOODGOOD Star Food". Following last year's GOODGOOD Ten Day Challenge, Starbucks continues to advocate the GOODGOOD lifestyle - Eat Good, Do Good, Feel Good - by relaunching "Tomorrow's Latte" - a caramel mousse oatmeal latte - and launching the first "Tomorrow's Handover Style" campaign. In the 10 days since April 12, the "Tomorrow's Handover" campaign has attracted hundreds of thousands of star-crossed people who, through the Starbucks App or WeChat app, purchase a designated drink or food item from the "GOODGOOD Star Food" series and receive a free medium-sized "Tomorrow's Latte" to give to their WeChat friends. Through this campaign, Starbucks aims to inspire as many people as possible to take something from this latte, so that the planet's hopeful tomorrow begins with a few small, greener changes in our lives today.

Starbucks has set a primary goal - to achieve a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions, water use, and waste emissions in each of its global coffee production and processing operations by 2030, compared to 2019 data. To that end, Starbucks looks at every step of the "bean to cup" journey and takes a comprehensive approach to reducing its environmental impact. Starbucks follows a green philosophy every step of the way, from cultivation, production and packaging all the way to the store.

For more than 20 years, Starbucks has partnered with the Conservation International Foundation on the Coffee and Growers Fair Practices (C.A.F.E.) certification to enhance coffee quality, economic responsibility, social responsibility and environmental requirements at the source. Currently, nearly 99 percent of Starbucks' global coffee is sourced under this specification, with the final 1 percent being used to support and enhance new coffee farmers to practice sustainable farming.
