Recently, in celebration of Earth Day, Tea Spot, a leading American tea brand, launched a line of 100% sustainable, compostable packaging to reduce waste to the environment. Newly packaged versions of the brand's best-selling teas are now available through Whole Foods, Central Markets and the company's website.
Tea Spot's Certified Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified tea is now bundled with new compostable packaging, thanks to a $10,000 grant from Boulder County for the Pollution Reduction Initiative. The grant facilitates research into compostable materials to expand The Tea Spot's sustainability efforts for individually packaged tea bags in food service. The packaging and tea bags are made from plant-based and sustainable materials - 100% biodegradable and compostable in a commercial environment.
"Our mission is to help people get healthy through tea, and we are always looking for innovative ways to positively impact the environment and serve our tea-loving community through ideas, products and now packaging," said Maria Uspenski, founder and CEO of The Tea Spot.
