Recently, Tipa Israel established a new partnership with Charter Next Generation (CNG), a U.S. specialty film manufacturer.
Tipa, an Israel-based manufacturer of compostable packaging solutions for food and fashion, has joined forces with U.S.-based specialty film manufacturer Charter Next Generation (CNG) to promote the production and adoption of local compostable packaging in the United States.
Under the new partnership, CNG will manufacture TIPA's newly launched Tipaclear 301 and Tipaclear 319. Both are clear, compostable films for food and consumer product packaging, available in a variety of thicknesses and applications, exclusively for the North American market. The Tipaclear 319 can be used for both home and industrial composting and is designed to be biodegradable, just like organic waste in home composting. It is sealable and printable on both sides making it ideal for packaging a variety of products including fresh fruit, bread, spices, cookies, nuts, cereals, cosmetics, toys and clothing.
According to the manufacturer, these films can run on the most traditional plastic packaging machinery and offer a fully compostable alternative to traditional plastics with the same features such as transparency and functionality. They are made from a patent-protected blend of fully compostable polymers.
"We are excited to have CNG as our partner in expanding the commercial availability of compostable packaging options in North America," said Michael Hanratty, acting general manager and strategic business development for North America, at TIPA. "This is an important step in helping companies actively reduce their reliance on traditional flexible plastics and navigate rapidly changing packaging waste management policies for the good of the planet."
Founded in 2010, Tipa developed proprietary technology for compostable packaging inspired by the natural biodegradation process of organic waste. In September 2019, the company raised $25 million.
