London-based British sanitary napkin brand Fluus has launched the world's first biodegradable sanitary napkin, the only one that does not produce microplastics and permanent waste, according to British media reports.

Fluus sanitary napkins are made from plant fibers, biopolymers and tree sap that will completely break down under toilet flushing water and will not cause leakage problems as long as you don't go swimming.

Data shows that 45 billion sanitary napkins are discarded worldwide each year, up to 3 billion in the UK alone. Most are made of 90% plastic and take more than 500 years to fully decompose, resulting in nearly 200,000 tons of waste going to landfill.
