Recently, Zhengdao Tire Co. Ltd. said that it has successfully developed an innovative tire with a bio-based material content of up to 30 per cent. The environmentally friendly tire has now passed all applicable legal and regulatory tests, and its performance indicators are comparable to those of mainstream products on the market.
This tire with high content of bio-based materials contains 3 special ingredients:
1. Silicon dioxide - a commonly used tire component that helps to improve grip and reduce fuel consumption. This tire is made of high-quality silicon dioxide from rice husk ash (i.e., rice husk ash silica), generally rice husk contains 17% to 20% of the silicon dioxide, rice husk through the combustion of energy use of the main component of the remaining silica ash residue, generally containing silica in 90% to 95.5%, is the ideal raw material for silicon dioxide;
2. Rice bran oil - helps maintain the toughness of tire rubber compounds in response to temperature changes. Rice bran is a major by-product of rice processing, and the rice bran oil obtained after refining is natural and environmentally friendly, making it an ideal substitute for petroleum-based oils;
3. 3. Bio-based resin - helps to improve and enhance tire traction performance. The tire uses renewable pine resin instead of traditional petroleum-based resin, which ensures the traction performance of the tire and also slightly reduces the rolling resistance of the tire.
